麻豆原创 research implicates hydrogen sulfide in obesity-related inflammation

A new study by a team of 麻豆原创 researchers identifies the gaseous signaling molecule hydrogen sulfide as an important regulator of the chronic, low-level inflammation caused by obesity that is associated with insulin resistance and the likelihood of developing type 2 diabetes.

Featured as the Dec. 15 cover of the journal Science Signaling, the paper is co-authored by investigators from the departments of Physiology and Biophysics and Microbiology and Immunology, including lead author Gopal V. Velmurugan, PhD '13, and Huiya Huang, PhD '15.
